The annual City Pride program is scheduled to begin next week at the Forrest City Sports Complex.

City Pride is an annual summer program where youngsters ages six through 16 are invited to spend part of their break from school playing and making friends while enjoying activities at the Larry S. Bryant Multipurpose and Wellness Center.

The program will begin at 8 a.m., on Tuesday, June 13, and be held until noon each weekday for the next five weeks, according to officials at Forrest City City Hall.

Activities will include football, basketball, gaming, movies, story times, handball, flag tag, kickball and more.

Kenneth Taylor, director of the city’s parks and recreation department, will oversee the City Pride program.

Mayor Larry Bryant said representatives of various city agencies will also participate in the program, such as the police and fire departments.

The program is also offering an opportunity for local youth to earn money this summer by working with the City Pride program.

“We need some young people, preferably between the ages of 14 and collegeaged students, to help with the program,” said Bryant, adding that the helpers would work five hours each day and be paid $12 an hour.

Those interested in working with City Pride may pick up an application at city hall between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Applications must be returned by noon on Monday, June 12.
