Boar’s Head work pushes permits above $8 million

A renovation project at Boar’s Head, for which a permit was purchased in May, pushed the city’s building permits total to more than $8 million for the year.

The Boar’s Head project, estimated at $7 million, was one of three commercial projects permitted by the city last month.

The other commercial permits were for two new businesses on North Washington Street.

Michael Posey bought a permit for work estimated at $6,000 for an ice cream shop at 3715 N. Washington St. Ashley Colvin purchased a permit for a $200 sign at a new coffee and pie shop.

There were 15 residential permits issued during May with the largest being for an estimated $30,000 renovation at 2340 W. Broadway. The second largest residential permit was for roofing and repairs at 516 W. Broadway St., estimated at $18,000.

There were $127,419 in residential projects and $7,006,200 in commercial projects permitted during May which includes renovations, repairs, new construction and roofing, bringing the monthly total to $7,133,619.

So far this year, the city has permitted projects estimated at $8,131,199.
