Times-Herald hosting mayoral forum Thursday

A forum featuring the candidates for Forrest City mayor will be held Thursday evening at the Civic Center.

The Times-Herald is hosting the forum, which will begin at 5:30 p.m., and is open to all interested voters.

Candidates will be asked a series of questions regarding their plans for Forrest City, if elected mayor.

Seven people have filed as candidates for the four-year position, currently held by Mayor Cedric Williams. Williams is facing challenges from Evetta Whitby, Christy Gross and Larry Bryant, along with council members Chris Oswalt, Louise Fields and Jason Evansingston.

Miles Kimble will serve as the forum’s moderator. Each candidate will have only a few minutes to answer questions from the Times-Herald and the public.

Forrest City residents who have questions they would like the candidates to answer are encouraged to email those to the Times-Herald at publisher@thnews.com before Wednesday.

The candidates will not see the questions in advance.

Early voting in this year’s general election begins Monday, Oct. 24. Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 8.
