FCity’s sales tax collections rebound in December

Forrest City’s sales tax revenue increased in December of the previous month’s collections.

The city’s sales taxes generated $339,043.99 in revenue last month, an increase over the November tax revenue reported by the state as $330,233.04.

The Arkansas Municipal League and the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration report the tax revenue monthly.

Six cities in St. Francis County collect a municipal sales tax. Those cities, with the exception of Hughes and Madison, reported lower tax collection rates in December compared to the previous year.

The December 2021 figures are listed with the 2020 figures in parenthesis: Hughes $7,059.07 ($6,187.06), Madison $1,660.61 ($1,416.59), Palestine $27,127 ($31,503.47), Wheatley $3,892.42 ($4,079) and Widener $2,868.65 ($3,261.86).

Municipalities in the county received $404,920.07 in December from the county sales tax revenue, which was less than the $409,112.99 the entities received in December 2020.

Each city within the county receives a share of certain county taxes.

From the county tax, Forrest City received $291,742.40 in December, which is more than the $278,695.08 the city collected from the county taxes the previous year.
