John Speers (Jack) Toney

John Speers (Jack) Toney passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at the age of 94.

He was the son of John Speers Toney Sr. and Virginia Osborne Toney, and was born in Hot Springs. He attended the University of Arkansas, where he met the love of his life, and was married in 1949 to Elaine Butler. His career was in sales, and he was an avid outdoorsman. He volunteered with the St. Francis County Sheriff’s Department after retirement. He enjoyed sharing jokes and stories. He was a member of Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Toney is survived by his wife, Elaine; two sons, John Speers Toney III of Humble, Texas and Jim Toney of Kingwood, Texas; two daughters, Virginia Toney of Redwood City, Calif., and Janet Toney of Irving, Texas; two grandchildren, Jack Allen of San Francisco, Calif., and Hope Toney of Humble, Texas.

A celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later date.

The family requests memorials be made to Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church, 402 East Dillard, Forrest City, AR 72335.
